Mother of Pumpkins - My Pumpkin Harvest

I feel like such a proud mommy!
The past Spring and Summer I've put a lot of energy in growing pumpkins just for fun! Last Wednesday (Sep 6th) I've harvested almost all my pumpkins since it will be raining a lot the coming weeks with nice cold autumn temperatures. So I was not going to risk the life of my babies by letting them stay outside! Let me share a little bit more about them :)

The garden
One of the reasons I love pumpkins so much is: they look & grow like waves of the ocean and they will actually grow 10 to 15 cm each day in length!  My mom and I discussed to give up one of the pathways in our garden to give my pumpkins for more room to "play" and move around. So that little pathway on the left is all we have left to walk through the garden haha! It's totally worth it!

Inspector Jofee
Jofee is always very aware of changes in his environment; changes in color, new objects, name it. In the beginning when the pumpkin vines started to grow past the border: in the morning they looked a certain way and then in the evening the entire garden had changed (because they have grown about 10/15 cm). Inspector Jofee was always on high alert in the beginning, even sometimes even had to call out to me for assistance in discovering if it was still a pumpkin vine and not some kind of creature :D

Jofee, guardian of the pumpkins
Because I had to harvest them early this month (I wanted to wait until half September) not everyone has a perfect color yet. All the yellowish pumpkins are now in our window getting their tan on. They are now so much more orange already! Sadly the smallest green one in the front didn't make it. The vine, all the way to the pumpkin was mushy. There are some pumpkins left on the vines in the garden, they have been born on the day of the harvest. I've given them the chance to grow, because all the attention of the pumpkin plants now go to these tiny babies. Today they've already grown triple in size of what they were :D I'm so proud! The pumpkins who are not sunbathing are spread out over the living room as fall decoration.

I'm so happy it's fall!

I hope you've enjoyed this little pumpkin post,
I'll see you in my next.
